By far the best beef bowl in midtown is from Udon West. The thinly
sliced beef is lightly marinated with the perfect ratio of onions, all
over a nice bed of somewhat oily and very delicious rice. Another
jewel introduced by a coworker, they have received so many good
comments on chowhound that I'm sure I'll be writing about the rest if
their menu soon!

A few days ago, one of my coworkers told me about Kolaches, and a lil
shop called Kolache Mama. They basically make these little breaded
pastries with either meat veggies or sweet type toppings. I've tried
the deep berry which was heaven, and a very delicious apple grape mix.
The pastry portion is more a sweet flour mix than your typical flakey
pastry, and is really good (filling too) and the best thing is you can
get 2 for $5. I also like the cute logo on the bag. And if your
feeling crazy you can buy a dozen for $30 bucks, mmmm! gunna buy em
for all my staff today!
